community service
John 3:16 says that God loved the world, and in the Bible there are many confirmations of this verse. There are numerous accounts of Jesus Christ healing, serving those in need, and ultimately helping us all by bearing our sins on the cross so that we may be forgiven and have eternal life if we believe in Him. "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:28)
So Jesus came and loved the world to save mankind, and we would like to follow His example. We want to lend helping hands, patient ears, and caring hearts to the people around us. Hopefully those we meet will be able to see in our actions how much God loves them and wants to be a part of their lives. So join us as we attempt to fulfill 1 John 3:18. "Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth."
Some FAQ's…
1. Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome to join our activities! Even if you aren't part of Oasis or even if you aren't a Christian, you can get involved with our events.
2. What community service activities are you doing this year?
Our Fall Quarter activities are…
- Joining in a Habitat for Humanity event
- Adopting a family for Christmas. We will have a car wash to raise money and then go shopping for Christmas presents.
- Visiting a nursing home and spend time with the elderly.
- Hosting a Parents-Shopping-Night, where we watch the kids so the parents can go out and do Christmas shopping or whatever they want.
- Helping senior citizens with housework or chores.
We have a lot more ideas for the quarters to follow, and of course we always like getting suggestions and ideas for other community service activities.
3. How do I find more information about specific events?
We will have quarterly calendars available on the website by the first day of each quarter, and we will also be putting announcements in our Sunday morning church service bulletins. They will have dates, times, meeting places, who to contact, etc.
4. Can I help organize a community service event?
Of course you can! Just get in touch with any of the Community Service Coordinators, and we can work together to organize your service activity.
